Our Story
From one millennial's frustration to Metro Manila's most relatable home cleaning brand — this is how Ate Girl came to be.
Founded April 9, 2018
Ate Girl - Home Services was started by Kris Mercado, a Filipino millennial who knew the pain of looking for reliable, trustworthy home help in Metro Manila all too well. Finding someone you could trust with your home — someone who'd show up, do the work properly, and not make you feel like you were asking too much — was harder than it should have been.
So Kris built the solution herself. On April 9, 2018, Ate Girl was born in Quezon City — named after a uniquely Filipino figure: the Ate (pronounced Ah-teh). In Filipino culture, "Ate" means "older sister," and the Ate of the household is the one you rely on: dependable, no-drama, gets-it-done. That spirit became the brand's foundation.
The tagline "Ang Ate na Walang Arte!" — loosely translated as "The sister with no attitude, no pretense" — was Kris's direct promise to clients: straight-shooting, genuine service. No airs, no excuses. Just hard, wholehearted work.
How We Work
Three core principles that guide every booking, every visit, every result.
"Dibdiban" is a Filipino word that means giving something your full heart and effort. It's the difference between cleaning a floor and making it genuinely spotless. Every Ate Girl professional brings this energy to every session — whether it's a 2-hour general clean or a full post-construction job.
"Arte" in Filipino means being pretentious, difficult, or having too many airs. "Walang Arte" is the opposite — no drama, no unnecessary complications. Our team shows up on time, communicates clearly, does the work thoroughly, and leaves your home better than they found it. Simple as that.
Book via WhatsApp. Flexible scheduling from Monday to Sunday. Services that fit busy QC condo life — 2, 4, 6, or 8-hour cleaning blocks. Add-on personal care and wellness services. Ate Girl was designed around how millennials actually live, not how cleaning services used to work.
